Oracy

At the St Thomas a Becket Federation we believe that oracy is a cornerstone of effective communication and a key driver of academic success and personal development. Our oracy curriculum is designed to equip pupils with the skills, express themselves clearly, and engage in meaningful dialogue, both within and beyond the classroom.

We are committed to fostering an environment where all pupils can develop confidence in speaking and listening, enabling them to articulate their thoughts and feelings with clarity, respect, and empathy. Through structured opportunities to learn pupils practice turn-taking, expand their vocabulary, and express their ideas in diverse settings. Pupils will build the foundations of effective communication that are essential for life in Key Stage 3 and beyond.

By embedding oracy across our curriculum, we aim to prepare pupils not only for the academic and social demands of secondary school but also for their future roles as articulate, thoughtful, and empathetic members of society. We strive to ensure pupils use their voice to positively impact their world.
